10 August 2010, Bradford (PA) (void)
Dresser® announces the availability of its new Piping Specialties
Style 220 low profile repair sleeve. This sleeve is the result of our unique manufacturing capabilities combined with an existing product, creating a repair solution that reduces labor and material costs in the field.
The Style 220 sleeve can be used on both gas and liquid transmission pipeline repairs allowing for full encirclement repair over past repairs or pipeline damage. Its innovative design replaces the wedding band oversleeve design, requiring 10 welds, with the Style 220 low profile sleeve requiring only four welds. This new sleeve does not require backing strips under longitudinal seams for further time and material savings. |

Rotork Site Services package secures vital actuation and control upgrade at BP tank farm
9 August 2010, Bath (United Kingdom)
The BP storage tank farm at Lyon in France consists of nine storage tanks with a total capacity in excess of 60,000 cubic metres. The plant’s inlet and outlet valves utilise Rotork electric actuators, whilst the fire fighting water main was, until recently, equipped with Profibus-enabled valve actuators from a French manufacturer. BP contacted Rotork with a view to improving the level of reliability and the maintenance service for all the actuators on the site.
Rotork’s engineers convinced BP that the installation of Rotork IQ intelligent electric actuation technology with Pakscan 2-wire digital control on the fire fighting water main would provide the security and reliability demanded by the application, as well as meeting BP HSSE standards. Rotork actuators with Pakscan control have been widely adopted in BP tank farm installations in Europe and elsewhere since the first Pakscan system was launched in the 1980s. Many of these installations have been subsequently upgraded with IQ actuators and the latest Pakscan P3 network. In addition, the comprehensive scope of supply available from Rotork France would enable the new actuated valves and control system to be supplied as a complete, factory-fitted and tested package, simplifying the whole contractual process...

Semiannual Report: Belimo reports accelerated pace of growth and increased profitability
5 August 2010, Hinwill (Switzerland)
The Belimo Group, global leader in the field of actuator solutions for regulating and controlling heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems, can look back on a strong first half-year. Increased sales and market gains were reported in all key markets, despite cautious forecasts due to the recession and continuing partly unfavorable market conditions.
Sales in the first half of 2010 were CHF 209.3 million, which is equivalent to year-on-year growth of 10.1 percent. On a currency-adjusted basis sales were up 13.3 percent.
Operating margin before interest and taxes (EBIT) amounted to 19.5 percent (same period 2009 14.8 percent). The continuing impact of the recession-related cost saving measures implemented the previous year and the hitherto only modest increase in material and freight costs had a correspondingly positive effect on profitability.
Net income improved by 38.4 percent to CHF 31.5 million despite the adverse impact of the weakening euro.
Measured in local currencies, the change year-on-year was 14.8 percent for Europe, 8.2 percent for the Americas and 26.6 percent for Asia/Pacific. Converted into Swiss francs, sales by market region amounted to 55 percent in Europe, 36 percent in the Americas and 9 percent in Asia/Pacific.
In local currencies, sales of air applications grew by 12.2 percent and sales of water applications were up 15.2 percent. |
